Fiona Blandford

Fiona shares a lifelong passion for photography, which began with weekend family photography trips to the countryside and culminated in graduating with a degree in Fine Art Photography at Melbourne’s RMIT University. As one of the founding members of the BirdLife Australia Photography Awards, Fiona lists the launch of the inaugural event as a proud personal moment.

As an artist and photographer, Fiona’s work is dark in tone, and politically and historically charged. Her current project “1983 from the Freezer” uses film frozen since 1983.

Fiona also works as a Conservation Community Organiser in BirdLife Australia’s Campaigns team. Over the past ten years, this work has taken her across Australia – with her Nikon D800 and Mamiya 7 always close by her side. In her photography practice, Fiona is fascinated with landscapes and people – with many of these images published in Australian Birdlife magazine.
